Our last creative task was the ‘edit a photo’ challenge. Whilst sometimes difficult, I think these activities are a great way to put into practice what I’m learning with the 23 Things modules…
The challenge was to edit a photo in a creative way 📸 I must admit, my experience in this area was lacking, having previously resorted to mobile apps to do the work for me! Whilst there’s nothing wrong with that, I did want to delve a little deeper. I learnt how to use GIMP which is a free and open-source image editing program.
I had heaps of fun learning the software, and managed to create this cute pic of me and Zizi! I learnt so much, that I decided to post a reflection – You can read all about my process here.
Don’t forget to check out the online module on Digital Creativity – A recommendation from one of our participants, Dorsa:
The 23 things program has helped me to learn a lot. For the topic of this week, I found the little basic tutorial of GIMP really helpful to get me started and also it was great to have some links for YouTube videos for more information.
You can also check out everyone’s contributions to the challenge over on Facebook! Here’s a sneak peak of one of the gorgeous entries, by New Zealand artist, Helen Miller. Helen usually works with ‘real’ paper, inks, paint etc, but decided to have a dabble in the digital realm using Microsoft Paint. I think it’s a fabulous result!
